Downstream processing - Maple Pool Cue blanks and Pen blanks

Although the majority of what we sell has always been hardwood flooring, lumber and veneer.  Maple guitar neck blanks are one of our largest secondary product markets.  The problem with Manufacturing guitar necks has always been what to do with all of the side cut material which is beautiful straight grained old growth maple, but is now only 30" long!  We have finally found a market in which we can use this material to it's highest potential.  Pool Cue Blanks.  We saw the blanks down in a two step process to 1" x 1" x 30" to make a straight grain stable cue blank.  The maple is also sorted by growth ring count (25+, 35+, 45+) and color.  Any Cue blank that does not meet spec is then cut down into 5" Pen Blanks.  And yes, there is a good market for wooden reclaimed pens.. go figure!
